South Fayette Township News
Township Receives Grant
As what has become a recurring success story, the South Fayette Township Board of Commissioners has received a Parks and Recreation Grant.

The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development recently announced that South Fayette Township was awarded a $23,000 Grant for the installation of lighting at Morgan Park - Field “E.” This project was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Township and School District. The School District was instrumental in securing the poles for this lighting project -- at no cost. It is hoped that the project will begin later this year.
Your Input is Welcomed
As most South Fayette residents are aware, the Township is on the verge of a significant change. The next few years could see the redevelopment of the old Reichold Chemical Plant, the development of a new business park along Alpine Road and several other smaller economic development projects. Your South Fayette Board of Commissioners has taken several significant steps to ensure the involvement of the community in decisions involving these projects. To that end, the Board, in conjunction with the developer of the Newbury Development, EQA Communities Inc, has formulated a citizens’ survey. The purpose of this survey is to allow the residents of South Fayette the opportunity to provide input in to the types of shops, services and vendors they would like to see at the Newbury Development. Though the developer can not promise that all or any of the vendors will be a part of the development, they very much value the input of the township residents. The survey is available online at south-fayette.pa.us.

Road Improvement Program Notification System
South Fayette Township has announced a new communication tool for South Fayette Township residents. As part of the Township’s efforts to keep residents informed, South Fayette has included on its website an update on local road improvement projects. To access this information simply go to the Township’s website at south-fayette.pa.us and click on the Planning and Engineering Department. Also, under the new program the Township has developed a “door hanger” notification system. Under this program, door hangers will be placed at all residencies along a street or road that will be resurfaced.

If you have any comments and/or suggestions regarding this new program, please feel free to contact the Township at 412-221-8700 or at mhoy@sftwp.com.
