Athletic Pride
A South Fayette Tradition

On August 25, South Fayette hosted its first-ever Athletic Pride Day. From 5 p.m. until the evening ended with a sky filled with fireworks, the Stadium was a sea of green. To kick off the special event, the Little Green Machine and the South Fayette Cheerleaders led a parade of every high school athletic team in the District as we celebrated the “Lion Pride” school spirit that sets South Fayette apart. Great food was provided by Roadside Ribs and each team sponsored free games and events for the crowd.

The event also marked the debut of the Lion Pride T-Shirt that features the name of each sport in the District surrounding the lion logo. The back of the shirt marks the return of another important tradition in our District – the alma mater. At each football game this season, accompanied by the Little Green Machine Marching Band, the players will sing the alma mater in tribute to the school, community and fellow players who support them on the field each week.

These shirts are on sale for $10 at each home football game this season. Students can also earn special prizes for wearing the shirt at specified events this school year.

South Fayette’s student-athletes were honored at the annual
Athletic Pride Day rally at the start of the school year.
