SF Banners Show "Lion Pride" to Campus Visitors

Visitors to the South Fayette campus will be greeted by something new this fall — banners that boldly display the names of athletic teams, student organizations, and grade levels will proudly wave from the light poles that surround the buildings and parking lots.

An idea that came about as part of the Athletic Pride Day in August, the newly formed Lions’ Pride Organization — consisting of coaches and boosters from all South Fayette High School sports teams, as well as cheerleading and the Little Green Machine Marching Band — began this project with sports teams only, and now the banners are available to all campus organizations and groups. Everyone from the boys’ basketball team to the Little Lions’ Preschool has a banner, and more are on the way!

“This is something that we have talked about for sometime, and this group made it a reality,” says Superintendent Dr. Linda Hippert. “We’re proud to show our ‘Lion Pride’ as people enter our campus everyday.”

The banners are purchased independently by each organization and will be hung around campus as long as room is available. Each group is given their choice of displaying either the athletic lion logo or the “tradition, pride and excellence” logo with their group’s name. To date, more than 30 banners have been ordered with more to follow.
