SNAPSHOT
First Commonwealth Keeps it Local
First
Commonwealth, a Chamber member since 1976, offers the best of both
worlds when it comes to banking.
While it possesses
the resources of a large financial institution – some $6 billion
in assets – the company also likes to maintain the local touch
of a small, community bank.
That effort is
evident in the Bank’s presence in numerous cultural, business
and sporting events, and programs around town. In September, for
example, First Commonwealth sponsored a punt, pass, and kick
competition during a Pitt game at Heinz Field. Shortly before
that, the bank awarded $10,000 in scholarship money to eight local
children as part of an essay-writing contest. The Bank also has an
on-going program to help teach elementary and high school students
the basics of personal money management.
One of the best
examples of the bank’s commitment to the community is the
monthly awards it hands out to its employees who make the greatest
impact on the neighborhoods in which they work. “As a bank, the
communities in which we’re located are our customer base, and
our employees are part of the fabric of those communities,” says
John Dolan, president of First Commonwealth.
The Indiana,
Pa.-based company made its first inroads into the region in 1994
when it established branches in Bridgeville and McDonald. Since
then, the bank’s presence in the area has grown exponentially,
with more than 30 locations in the greater Pittsburgh area. Its
online banking options, network of ATMs, and financial services
and products rival those of any bank, while its community
involvement is second-to-none.
First Commonwealth
has locations throughout Western Pennsylvania. Local branches
include:
Bridgeville, 428
Station Street, 412-221-7700.
Robinson, 198 Park Manor Drive, 412-747-8100.
McDonald, 311 West Barr Street, 724-926-1325.
