On
My Mind
There is no “I”
In Team
So there we were, the staff of
this magazine, trying to plan our first issue of The South
Fayette Source™.
We all agreed that
the cover story of this debut issue would be crucial. It’s not
as though South Fayette hasn’t seen a community magazine before,
and the addition of any new publication is bound to raise a few
questions at first. But we’re planning to cover the township in
a different and exciting way that will instantly make The South
Fayette Source™ stand
out from the pack, shedding light on the new, putting new twists
on the familiar, and telling the stories of the people who
make the township what it is.
Those stories are
endless. South Fayette is a township with a rich history and a
bright future. But the question lingered: what story should make
the cover for this first issue?
We debated endlessly.
Then we remembered that, well, it’s autumn in Western
Pennsylvania. How could we not give the cover to a football game
night in South Fayette? What a great way to celebrate the area. A
football night at South Fayette’s stadium is about much more
than the game on the field – it’s about a large and diverse
group of people finding common cause in cheering their kids, their
home team, and, in essence, their community. In fact, in these
busy days, Friday night football might be one of few places where
a community truly can relax and come together.
The
magazine that you hold in your hands represents the combined
talents, energy, and experience of a devoted group of
professionals whom we’ve assembled to provide a fresh look at
life in one of this region’s great communities. Our team has
logged many hours in their respective fields and received many
awards for their work: A Golden Quill Award-Winning Managing
Editor, A State champion Journalist, A six-time Keystone Award
winning photographer, a CMU graduate in design and EdPress award
winner, an acclaimed webmaster!
It’s been an
interesting journey seeing this first issue to completion, but
seeing the end result makes the hard work worth it. If our pride
in this magazine shows through, we offer no apology. But we'd like
to know whether you agree, that it's worth your time and effort to
see what's inside. Please let us know. Feedback from readers is
the lifeblood of any magazine. We look forward to hearing from
you.
Have a look at our
website, www.thesouthfayettesource.com, to find additional photos
and information about the SF area that may not always make it into
the magazine.
By the way, we won
the game! Please read our cover story that starts on page 38.
