Think Spring with NJAHS

The Middle School’s National Junior Art Honor Society recently participated in a fun and artistic two-day “spring” workshop. Members of the NJAHS learned how to decorate Easter eggs using the Pysanki (Ukrainian) wax-resist technique. Mrs. Ruth Klimek donated her time to help the students decorate and dye eggs in time for the holiday this year. At the first meeting, the students decorated eggs creating interesting and colorful designs. During the second meeting they learned how to weave a reed basket to hold their Easter eggs. The technique required much patience and the reeds needed to have constant moisture to make the basket pliable as it was formed.
