SF Boys Press Jeannette But Come Up Short

South Fayette’s young-but-scrappy boys’ basketball team pressed Jeannette to the limit in their recent playoff battle, but came up short in perhaps the most heated high school game of the year.

The Lions did their best to contain opposition superstar Terrelle Pryor – a gifted athlete who has become the most heavily recruited high school ball player in the country – but after a grueling regular period played to a draw, Jeannette pulled ahead in overtime for the 64-54 win.

A see-saw game from beginning to end, with 90 seconds left in regulation, Jeannette was up by five points, but South Fayette rallied to tie it up. With just three seconds remaining, Jeanette fed the ball to Pryor, who astonishingly missed a game-winning three-pointer. In overtime, though, Pryor and his teammate Jordan Hall, who combined for 46 points, were too much to handle. South Fayette’s valiant effort was led by senior Zack Patterson, with 16 points, and freshman Pat Zedreck, with 11. Jeannette went on to win the Class AA title.
