Interior
Re-Design
Interior Redesign, which has been frequently featured on HGTV
and in many decorating magazines, is the art of transforming your
home utilizing the wonderful and not so wonderful things you have
accumulated over the years. With the assistance of a talented person
who has a passion for making homes look beautiful, a space can be
created that is balanced and harmonious while reflecting the
personalities of the family that lives in the home.
Re-designers can help to pull rooms together in small ways and
large; whatever suits your budget and your mood. It is about having a
living room that invites you in again and again, a dining room that
induces people to linger after dinner or a bedroom that works as a
personal retreat. It is about achieving an overall look. A re-designer
can perceive the potential of a home in ways most people can’t.
Re-designing is definitely needed when moving to a new home.
Once you have purchased your new home, the task of packing endless
boxes, deciding which furniture to take and which to discard, and all
the decisions about what improvements need to be made in the new
home begin.Whether you are moving up to your dream home,
downsizing to a much smaller space because your children are grown
and you don’t need such a large home any more, or you are blending
families, assistance by a certified interior designer or a re-designer may
be just what you need. The money spent on expert advice could help
you avoid costly errors.
If you are moving to a larger home, it may appear that all of your
furnishing will fit in quite nicely, but keep in mind that room sizes and
configurations may be very different, and the architectural features
such as fireplaces, windows, and even doorways may interfere with the
placement of furniture. Space planning is always critical, so before
purchasing new pieces, ask g a designer to take a look at your current
furniture, draw a floor plan of the new space, and offer helpful
suggestions. For example, many new homes have dramatic high
ceilings and large windows which need to be addressed. A designer
may have ideas for making it work by paint techniques and new
window treatments.
Today, many newly blended families find themselves moving into a
new home. In this case, each of the partners may be bringing wellloved
furniture. Compromise may be necessary, but sometimes even
disparate styles may work together. An interior re-designer can become
the “referee” – persuasion from an impartial third person can go a long
way in easing tensions. Young newly-weds just starting out could use
these services whether they are starting from scratch and using college
dorm furniture or have been living in separate apartments and have
acquired a collection of furniture they would like to use. A designer
can alleviate some of the issues that may arise.
Moving from a large home to a small apartment or condo, brings a
different set of issues. Obviously, not all of the furniture will fit into
the new space, yet some people find it hard to part with anything at
all. Often times, just a few new pieces will be needed if the owner’s
furniture can be used in new and creative ways in the new space.
If you are a senior citizen you may need some assistance when
transitioning from a home or condominium into an independent living
facility or the home of a family member. By helping with downsizing,
de-cluttering, organizing, and creating a way to preserve treasured and
sentimental collections, a designer or re-designer can eliminate much
of the stress. Again, they will be able to properly measure the new
space and help with the decision of what can move and what cannot.
Ultimately, hiring a professional re-designer depends on you and
your available free time, patience, creativity, and your budget.
