Paving Changes Due to Fuel Pressures | Gun Safety | Call for Volunteers

Department of Parks & Recreation Firearm Fundamentals & Gun Safety — Saturday, August 16

If your child came upon a gun lying on the ground,would they know what to do? Would you know what to do? Have you been considering purchasing a firearm for the first time? Do you have firearms in your home but do not know how to impress on your children the need for safety and the effects of carelessness?

This course is geared towards children aged 5 and older, but encompasses all ages including adults.All children ages 12 years or younger,MUST be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Regardless of your experience, or even if you do not own a gun, you will walk away with a better understanding of firearm safety.

Course Curriculum:
• Basic FirearmTypes • Safety Principles • Proper Handling Procedures
• Basic Maintenance • Kids & Guns • Liability Concerns
• Storage Options • Live Fire Exercises (optional)

Time:
8:30 a.m. Check In
9 a.m.— Noon Class Instruction
Noon — 1 p.m. Lunch (bring your own)
1 — 4 p.m. Live Fire Exercises (must attend morning session)

Location:
Morning Session: South Fayette Meeting Room (Township Building)

Afternoon Session: Boys’ Home Park

Planning and Development
The following applications for development have recently been submitted to the Township.All applications for residential and commercial development go through a series of independent reviews and evaluations.

The Board of Commissioners is currently considering the following plans: The Board approved the rezoning of a portion of property off Emerson La within the Abele Business Park from R-2 (Suburban Residential) to B-1 (Business District).

The Board approved SP-01-08, Site Plan for the proposed Clubhouse at the Berkshires development on Middlefield Drive.

The Board approved F-15-07, Final Phase,The Berkshires Phase 5,major subdivision within the Berkshires development.

The Board approved F-03-08 Site Plan for a Hampton Inn Hotel at the intersection of Old Pond Road and Hickory Grade Road.
